Math Games

We've been using concrete objects to represent quantities by playing some fun math games.  We are getting better and better at identifying all our numbers to 30.  We are also learning that counting tells how many things are in a set, and that numbers are related to each other through a variety of number relationships.  Here are some fun pictures from class.

This game is called Domino Parking Lot.  Students grab a domino, count the dots,
and park it in the right spot!

This game is called "Roll the Number Game".  Students roll a dice, count the dots,
and find a recycled water bottle cap with the matching numeral on it.

Students use vase beads from a craft store to cover the dots that match the numeral on the card.

This is a really fun math activity that also helps reinforce fine motor skills.  I copied numbers onto white cardstock paper and glued them together so that it would "sandwich" around a pipe cleaner.  Then the students pushed the corresponding number of beads onto the pipe cleaner.  The kids loved it!
